Transforming Lives, One Trip At a Time
Everyone needs a day off. It's even more essential to take a hiatus from day to day routines for those living in an underserved country. Daily life can be oppressive and give you little hope for a better future.
Many years ago, my daughter Rachel and I came up with the premise that our amazing and hard working scholarship students should get outside their norm and expand their comfort zones at least once or twice per year. Our vision was to introduce them to entire worlds they didn't even know existed, even though they were right in their backyard. For this reason "Loving Lima" was launched in 2018 and has been received with enthusiasm, fearlessness and extreme appreciation.
Our scholarship kids have embarked on incredible adventures that have allowed them to push their limits and step outside of their comfort zones. From hiking through picturesque landscapes, to riding majestic horses, to swimming under the warm sunshine, they have created unforgettable memories and formed unbreakable bonds with their fellow students.
I will always treasure my experience attending last year's field trip to the magical water park, "Perulandia" (picture left). It was a beautiful, sunny day and I surprised and inspired them by fearlessly joining in on the exhilarating water slides. It was a beautiful moment to see their faces light up with joy and excitement as they conquered their fears and embraced the thrill of the ride.
Currently it's summer vacation in Peru, and last week the students went to an incredible water park less than one hour away. Personal financial issues do not deter anyone from attending these trips because Make a Miracle covers the bus ride, their entrance fee, as well as a hearty lunch and beverages. Going to the pool regularly has really helped a lot of these young people overcome their fear of water and swimming. To me, this is priceless.
It warmed my heart to receive countless messages of thanks from the students this past week. They raved about their field trip and thanked me over and over, although it is not me they should thank. It's you, our donors and our scholarship sponsors that make this possible. Without your generosity, they would not be studying and working towards their goals and dreams. They would not have amazing experiences such as this to fuel their curiosity and expand their horizons. Thanks to you, their reality is that they living full, joyful lives along their fellow Make a Miracle scholarship students.
I would like to pass along some of the messages I received, because you deserve them, not me. Thank you for your continued support of our mission and helping us grow bigger than we could have imagined!
Thanks so much for the trip, I enjoyed it a lot, really a lot. I lost all of the stress I had when I was swimming with friends, and playing sports with all of them. It was amazing really, I had not done that before and it was really cool. I love the Make a Miracle family!
Today I was swimming and being in the center of the pool for the first time in my life! I will no longer be on the shore. I now have my motivation to learn anything. Fear is not a limit, it is an impulse ✨🫂❤️
I would like to thank you for this beautiful field trip that you have given us, for me it is a gift from God to have met you, thanks to the NON PROFIT AND THE THINGS YOU DO AND FOR ALL THE THINGS THAT THOSE WHO BELONG ARE DOING TO HELP OTHERS 😍
